A soaring structure rising 17 stories high above the Baltic metropolis, Mercure Gdansk Hevelius is the tallest building in the city and a point of reference when giving directions. Situated in the Old Town district, beside the Radunia Channel and half a kilometre from Solidarity Square, the railway station and the historical buildings of Main Town, its sleek white-blue-silver shell has dominated the skyline since 1979. The Madison shopping centre and principal transit rout for the Tri-City is just across the street as is the city check in airport terminal with available shuttle service. After considerable renovations in 2001 and later in 2009, the hotel now boasts gleaming surfaces and design furnishings in public spaces and a business-y spare modern style in rooms. Creams and rich chocolate tones dominate the air-conditioned and sound-proofed bedrooms which boast generous creature comforts: flat-screen TVs, minibars, telephones, safe-boxes, broadband Wi-Fi Internet, magazines, cosmetics, coffee- and tea-making sets and anti-allergenic bedding. Above and beyond the amenities, rooms here boast magnificent views of historic sights. Other distractions include the light-filled Lobby Bar boasting an assortment of wines, beverages and snacks; a suave restaurant serving seasonally changing regional cuisine and a mid-sized fitness room on the mezzanine level. There's also 9 top-class conference rooms ready to host a range of corporate events and social soirees.
