Weather/when to come to Gdansk
Best time of the year to visit Gdansk is probably from May to September as there is a big chance of nice, warm and sunny weather in this period. During the summer however some occasional downpours happen but generally July is the warmest month.
Spring and autumn may be a bit more windy season, spring is usually more sunny than autumn. However the end of September and October is called here “golden autumn” which means this is the period when leaves begin to change their color before falling down which makes a beautiful scenery in the parks, green areas and forest around the city. December and January are the coldest months during which, temperature often drops below 0 degrees. However the climate here is unpredictable and every winter is different, sometimes very frosty and sometimes pretty mild. But winter in the city is not as nice as in the mountains for example because there is a lot of snow everywhere which turns quickly into a dirty slush and stay sometimes for a longer time on the pavements. So if you can choose when to visit Gdansk, we recommend period from spring to early autumn. The best time to visit Gdansk would be summers when the average temperature is about 20 degree Celsius. It is relatively more pleasant during summer. Winter is the off season . It could get very chilly with temperatures dropping down to an average of -3 to -1 degree Celsius. Gdansk is definitely at its best in the summer which is the peak season , when the weather’s good and there are plenty of local festivals and events to keep you entertained. It also hosts a huge shopping festival during the from the end of June to August. Gdansk’s increasing popularity on the tourist circuit, however, means that summers are pretty crowded. If you’re looking for a lively time with clubs and festivals hosting events then summer would definitely me the best time to visit. If you don’t like sharing your sightseeing with scores of fellow-tourists, plan your trip for spring or autumn as they are considered the shoulder season , the city is comparatively less crowded at these times, and the local parks and gardens are absolutely lovely. Late April and May, or September and October are recommended if you want to escape the crowd. This is also the best time to go the beaches of Gdansk and relax as there are fewer tourists.
