From January 24 to 30, Zak Cinema in Gdansk will host the selection of Russian films with Russian Film Festival SPUTNIK OVER POLAND.The festival istraditionally held in Warsaw in autumn and later goes around 40 cities in all Poland.


From January 24 to 30, Zak Cinema in Gdansk will host the selection of Russian films with Russian Film Festival SPUTNIK OVER POLAND. The festival istraditionally held in Warsaw in autumn and later goes around 40 cities in all Poland. This time, the replica of Sputnik festival is a week with the latest movies from across the eastern border. Films that were so far absent on the Polish screens will paint a picture of modern Russia in many intriguing aspects. War, faith, love and death are the subjects that contemporary filmmakers deal with nowadays in this country changing in front of our eyes. The festival is a regular review of the best films in Russian alternative cinema, that will give you the opportunity to see in which condition the famous "Russian soul" is nowadays. The films vary – from philosophical films associated with Russian cinema to the slightly absurd images of life in past times right up to the great morality plays and stories of human dramas.
During the first days of Sputnik, the audience will see productions created in 2012-2013. "Daughter" and "Live"- both films address the problem of the death of loved ones, and an attempt to combat the sudden and sad reality of the loss. It is worth to see in particular the film "Desire" showing life before and after the war in Kosovo, narrated through the eyes of Kostya.
Screenings take place in the cinema Zak, Grunwaldzka Street.
